atg UV Technology provides cyrstal clear water for Tynemouth Leisure Centre.
North Tyneside Council has chosen two state of the art atg UV Technology systems for its Tynemouth Leisure Centre. The quick and easy installation of the atg UV system has allowed Tynemouth Leisure Centre to achieve optimum water disinfection without the unpleasant smells and eye irritations associated with simple chlorination, resulting in a safer and more pleasant bathing experience for its customers.
Centre manager Simon Frost commented "A few days after the atg UV system was installed, the combined chlorine level dropped from 1ppm to around 0.2ppm and has become much more stable. The water is now crystal clear and the unpleasant chlorine smell has greatly reduced."
atg UV, a global market leader in ultraviolet technology, installed the medium pressure UV systems as part of Tyneside Council's overall water treatment strategy. The two systems destroy harmful microbiological organisms and parasites, including parasites like cryptosporidium, which are highly resistant to chemical disinfectants such as chlorine. In addition, UV energy breaks-down the chloramines which are the cause of eye irritation (‘red-eye'), skin irritations and chlorine smell, thus greatly improving bather comfort.
atg UV continues to develop innovative new ultraviolet equipment, and install bespoke site-specific systems. These help to meet the growing global demand for a safer and more effective process.
