With UV systems treating over 5000 m3/hr daily, UV disinfection is no longer an ‘emerging' technology. A number drinking water companies across the UK are now investing heavily in UV, as the threat of Cryptosporidium continues to pose a serious risk. 

The DWI guidelines for UV operation and system selection states: "DWI recommends any water company considering the use of UV irradiation for the disinfection of public water supplies to consult the US EPA Ultraviolet Disinfection Guidance Manual (UVDGM)"
